Best Ways To Keep Your Home Clean And Organised

Keeping up with everyday housekeeping might be a chore, but it does not have to consume all of your time. Keeping a clean home, in my opinion, is less about the work needed and more about developing certain excellent habits that you ultimately! start to just follow intuitively. Yes, things still get chaotic, and I'm not always able to keep up with the daily cleaning, but for the most part, I strive to follow these habits to maintain a house clean and neat.

I promise you, the more you do them, the easier they become! If the list appears daunting at first, choose one or two to get started and add more as you can.

Begin by making the bed.

Making the bed may seem like a waste of effort to some, but it makes a great difference in how neat the room looks and only takes a couple of minutes. Furthermore, I believe it helps to start the day well, and I enjoy climbing into a made bed at the end of the day. Simplify your bedding as much as possible to make life easier. We ended up taking out our top sheets because they always ended up in a large puddle at the end of the bed anyway and just used a duvet and washable cover instead. If you adore your top sheets, consider reducing the number of pillows on your bed or buying a large enough cover or duvet to eliminate the need to tuck in your sheets.

Laundry should be done once a day.

You may not need to do this daily depending on how many loads you generally do each week, but we go through at least seven loads per week. Make it a habit to do one load of laundry first thing in the morning. If you work outside the home and won't have time to dry it before leaving, set your machine on delay if it has this feature, so it's ready to put in the dryer when you arrive home. Alternatively, place the load in the machine in the morning and simply switch it on when you arrive home. Make sure you schedule some time in your day to finish the load, including putting everything away.

Do a 15-minute nightly cleaning.

Make a habit of doing a 15-minute nightly clean-up as a family. For some reason, cleaning up doesn't seem nearly so unpleasant when everyone else is doing it. Set a timer and focus solely on the top cleaning objectives. While you finish up the kitchen cleaning or fold and put away clothing, the kids can tidy their rooms or do other little domestic duties. Begin with the things that are generating the most of a mess or causing a lot of clutter, as well as any "must-dos" that must be completed before going to bed.
